Bondi Home Ranch “Water Trough Vineyard” Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot Noir

Growing Year Info

Often referred to as the fire & ice year, wildfires swept across California from Santa Barbara to the Oregon border, with the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley being hit the hardest. Martinelli Winery did not produce any red wines from the coastal vineyards this year because of the smoke taint. The white wines from the coastal region faired better since the juice spends very little time on the skins, which is where the smoke taint resides. In the Russian River Valley, a late last frost in April further affected overall tonnage. This was a farmer's vintage, in that it was imperative to give constant attention to the vineyards to achieve quality wines.

Tasting Notes

The 2008 Bondi Home Ranch Pinot Noir has aromas of smoky Indian spices and dried flowers, and bursts with dark berry flavors and black raspberries, ending in a smooth velvet finish.
