Lolita Ranch Chardonnay 2008

Varietal

Chardonnay

Growing Year Info

Often referred to as the “fire & ice year”, wildfires swept across California from Santa Barbara to the Oregon border, with the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley being hit the hardest. Martinelli Winery did not produce any red wines from the coastal vineyards this year because of the smoke taint. The white wines from the coastal region faired better since the juice spends very little time on the skins, which is where the smoke taint resides. In the Russian River Valley, a late last frost in April further affected overall tonnage. This was a “farmer’s vintage”, in that it was imperative to give constant attention to the vineyards to achieve quality wines.

Tasting Notes

This thick wine coats the mouth with allspice, peach and toasty vanilla oak and has aromas of honeysuckle and orange.
