Jackass Hill Muscat of Alexandria 2010

Varietal

Muscat

Growing Year Info

This year started with a wet spring which delayed the growing season. The summer was cool and the canopies of the vines were leafed to expose the fruit, keep rot risk low, and help ripen the fruit. Suddenly in August a heat wave hit, and the grape skins were burned in many vineyards. Numerous hours were spent cutting out the burned berries while the fruit was still hanging on the vines. The meticulous work of hand-sorting the fruit once it was harvested was also performed, removing any unwanted berries that were missed.

Tasting Notes

The 2010 Muscat Alexandria coats the mouth with rich honeysuckle, mango, lychee, passion fruit, vanilla and sweet spices. The sugars are kept below 4% to allow for a less cloying dessert wine, perfect for enjoying with a cheese tray or a fruit dessert.
